The man with a plan : Brady Beddingfeild

John Tyler High construction progress

According to the man over the John Tyler construction project, Brady Beddingeild, it will be finished sooner than you think. John Tyler should be finished by August of 2020. The 2019-2020 students of John Tyler will be moving into the new building in January of 2020 (no more portables). The only concerns is when students wander into the construction sites, which is highly dangerous and can cause stress for construction workers. This means that our students need to act more responsibly, and pay attention to their surroundings.

The person over the future glorious John Tyler is Brady Beddingfeild who has had a good amount of experience in construction. From schools to railroads, Brady has done enough to show that both John Tyler and Lee are in good hands. What is even more exciting, is that were able to see the live construction in action. All you have to do, is type up http://www.wrl/gc.com LIVE and you´ll get a close up view of that work in progress, the beginning of a masterpiece.

50 years from now i will still be excited to drive by and see a great project that i was involved with.

Teen drinking

You probably know some teens who drink. Maybe you’ve even tried it yourself. The truth is not everyone does it. The latest research shows 2 out of 3 teens don’t drink.

Not everyone drinks it’s something that can be use to take the pain away or some people just want to be like the other kids and drink too.  If that’s the case then your following other people’s footsteps. Teen drinking is a bigger deal then you actually think.

The law says its illegal to drink under 21, so why do we as “teens” still do it? Together as friends, families or whatever relationship you have with the other we need to make a pact.

We let the best of us get to our heads and we care more about protecting our friends than ourselves. But it doesn’t have to be like that you can take a stand just like the rest of us. You’re not alone!

The importance of the ACT and SAT

The ACT and SAT are timed tests that are used to measure your college readiness and predict how you will advance academically. Both tests are used to award merit-based scholarships and for colleges to reward admission to students meeting requirements, with no real preference of either.

John Tyler students planning to go to college are required to take the ACT or the SAT in order to gain admission into College. According to Mrs. Skillern, the Dean of Instruction at JT, students who are wanting to take these exams will register with Ms. Welch and will take the tests dependent on the district but will most likely be in the spring.

The students performance on these tests can reflect the JT campus as a whole on their ability to prepare students for the SAT and ACT, but the need to take the tests and do well is a reflection of the students academic ability and it is in their best interest.

Mrs. Skillern said, “Beforehand it used to be that Universities and Colleges would only award scholarships based on athletics but now there has been a shift where these schools are rewarding scholarship based funding that goes to the students who perform very well on these tests”.

Which can further the motivation for scholars requiring financial aid towards their next college or University. Since the ACT and SAT are a major shift in the traditional standard of testing high school students are used to so it is extremely important that students test at least a few times so that they may be able to get the hang of the tests and score well enough to pursue college opportunities.

Mrs. Skillern then talks about student opportunities to improve scoring, she says “any students who are struggling or just want extra help towards the improvement of their ACT or SAT scores can take prep, which the district provides to ensure all students have equal opportunities of success”.

SAT and ACT prep are programs that provide detailed instruction of areas where the student might struggle, and to sign up for these prep any student can go see Ms. Welch and Mrs. Skillern for further instruction. At the end of the day it is the responsibility for the student to want to do well on these exams so that they have more opportunities to strive in the future.

Next ACT test date: December 8, 2018

Registration deadline: November 2, 2018
